A police sergeant who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
